Welcome to St George and St Clement

A message from our Vicar, Canon Karen Smeeton ....

Please don't think we have all the answers in here - at either church.

We're just looking for them (and sometimes just the right questions) together with others in the same boat.

Come and join us, doing our best to love God and all of His children. Everyone is welcome (absolutely everyone). We try to be inclusive and accessible.

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

Manchester Diocese Out of Hours service is provided by 31:8 (formerly CCPAS) which delivers advice and guidance
when the Safeguarding Team are not available. They can be contacted on 0303 003 1111.

Prayer Link with Baghdad

St George's Church, Oakenrod has an active prayer link with St George's Anglican Church in Baghdad, Iraq.

We pray together:

Almighty God, You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ into the world to make us all your people and heal the wounds that divide us; help us to overcome our fears and give your church in all lands courage to build up that which is broken and restore peace between nations.
United in fellowship under the banner of St George and strong in our Christian Faith may we, as inheritors of Your everlasting Kingdom, be witnesses of reconciliation, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

أيها الرب القدير , لقد أرسلت ابنك الوحيد , يسوع المسيح الى العالم ليجعلنا أبناءك وليشفي جروحنا التي تقسمنا , ويساعدنا على قهر مخاوفنا وليمنح جميع الكنائس في العالم الشجاعة لبناء ما هو مكسور وأستعادة السلام بين الامم .

A Prayer of Longing and Hope in a time of Discernment

We pray together:

Living and Loving God, as your pilgrim people in the Diocese of Manchester,

we thank you for the great commission with which you have entrusted us:

to love and serve, and to bring our parishes, schools, chaplaincies and all our communities

into new life in Jesus Christ.

As we prepare for all you call us towards in the months and years to come,

grant us hopeful and honest discernment;

meet our anxieties, griefs and fears with your tender and comforting Spirit;

and help us to greet the promise and challenge of each new day with openness, grace, and trust.

Teach us to pray in faith, hope and love, that we may go out into your world confident in your mission,

and full of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

AMEN.
